Where it all Began:

High Tea at Charleston Place

If any place can be called "the birth place" of The Hat Ladies, it is The Thoroughbred Club of Charleston Place. The year was 2001.

As the hats I wore around town continued to gather attention and open up conversation, I began to gather names and email addresses...even though I wasn't sure what I would do with them.  But I soon had enough Ladies' names to do something

Well, Ladies who wear hats DO TEA. So I contacted the best place in town for that purpose.  Charleston Place was willing to take a chance with me, and I was willing to take a chance I would not be the only one who showed up.

18 strangers to me and to one another showed up that day.

25 years later, The Hat Ladies of Charleston have been showing up ever since to DO TEA with good friends on our Anniversary and do good deeds for our community throughout the year.

It continued the Day of at our annual Tea at Charleston Place.

This year's Anniversary celebration began with Archie inviting Kalyn Oyer, Features Editor of The Post and Courier over for (you guessed it):

 A cup of Tea.

Almost like a Promenade...The Ladies arrive in one's, two's, and three's:

Meanwhile, Kayln is busy taking photos and interviewing The Ladies for the Newspaper. Link to her story is on page 3.
