DAY OF CARING

The Hat Ladies are proud to participate every year in two volunteer activities as part of the National Day of Caring...held to balance the horror of 9-1-1 with the goodness of Americans

Of course, it is comes as a great sacrifice since our faces ache the rest of the day from smiling and laughing so much.  If anyone doubts there is JOY in hats for people of all ages and cultures, these photos will prove it.  As two Hat Ladies wrote:

"I loved being part of The Day of Caring!  What a hoot...both the elders and the kiddies.  I'll be ready for next year!"  "What a great day; another Hat Lady Home Run and worthy of a repeat performance!!"

Charleston Area Senior Citizen Center

The Hat Ladies once again brought our patriotic program of hats, music, and good cheer to the members of this downtown Center. Please note:  We are careful to protect the confidentiality of the audience, so only The Hat Ladies and members of the military are pictured.

The men and women of the military join our program, then stay to do work around The Center

We are served a tasty lunch for our efforts--by Staff of the Center...and the military!

We now entertain those at the other end of the age spectrum...to no less delight on all sides! We share hats representing different professions and cultures; we sing; we dance; we perform a play.

Kathy has the right hattitude

Marlene has the patriotic ones

Linda's is Mexican

Look what Dani will give some lucky student

Hats are almost on everyone's head

Jeanie gets ready to be the star of the Play...

...a hat salesman, who takes off her hats to take a nap while walking to her next stop

We pretend to be monkeys and steal her hats

We keep monkeying around until she figures out how to make us give them back

More songs and dance follow the skit

Then the children led US in songs

Time for a promenade of hats

Time to go home, as we gather around Archie's Hat Lady license plate
