Here are examples of how our hats have come to symbolize the best of camaraderie AND community service in Charleston, South Carolina. These types of activities can be and have been modified to reflect the cultural, social, educational milieu of all towns:
Serve as docents for Home and Garden tours for The Historic Charleston Foundation and The Preservation Society
Serve as docents for "Scrumptious Summerville Kitchen Tour," benefiting the Dorchester Children's Advocacy Center, A Program of Children in Crisis
Lend a hand to Gibbes Art Museum fundraiser
Support the Charleston Symphony Orchestra during their month long Designer Showhouse
Participate in Country Living Designer Showhouse raising money for Juvenile Diabetes
Sell Calendars at The Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome
Help with the Autistic Society Fundraiser
Donate toys for Debi's Kids
Race for the Cure as a Team
Wear blue ribbons during our Annual Easter Promenade in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month
Assist at the "Grater" Cookbook Swap" sponsored by The Lowcountry Exchange Clubs, Select Health of SC, Inc, and Hightower Construction Co., Inc., benefiting Local Prevention of Child Abuse
Assist at the Camellia Society Show
Assist at the Trident Technical College Fundraiser for Scholarships and their Culinary Institute

Make hats for the children undergoing treatment at The Medical University of South Carolina, then help them decorate them
Wherever The Hat Ladies are, they enjoy the reputation of "being one of the most active groups in town, spreading enthusiasm to other local efforts." When there's a "need," who ya gonna call? The answer is: THE HAT LADIES!
