REFLECTING ON THE EXPERIENCE

Wow!  We truly pulled an amazing Promenade out of our Hats, despite all the obstacles.  I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed our Hat Ladies Luncheon.  It was great  seeing so many of my hat sisters. Our favorite place did not let us down!  The buffet was delicious and the service the finest. We reached crowds looking in the restaurant windows.   Of course, the best was lining up on the stairway for the photographer, where crowds gathered to hear us wish them a HATpy Easter, and sing “In your Easter Bonnet” using our special Charleston lyrics.  It was wonderful.  Everyone at my table had such a good time and said it was a great 2014 Promenade.

Happy Easter!  Even though it rained on our parade, yesterday was a great day for the hat sisters.

The nasty weather didn't really rain on our parade.  We had so many people stop in Blossoms and take our picture.

I must say you all the Hat ladies looked especially bright and cheery on this dreary day at Charleston Place today.   All were especially beautiful on the stairs, what a great photo op. We thought we missed the Hat Ladies until we arrived at Charleston Place!  What  treat for my friends to see all the beautiful hats and Hat Ladies.  We enjoyed being part of the “appreciative” spectator crowd this year!!

Although the plan was altered, we somehow manage to have the best times.    I think we all enjoyed the day.

Even though the day was very loosy goosy, it worked!

And the best affirmation of them all came from Hatalk.com, an on line Hat Magazine that comes from the United Kingdom.  Imagine being mentioned in the same sentence as The New York Easter Parade and being broadcast to their world audience:

Wearing a brand new Easter hat or bonnet is a traditional way to remember the new life and fresh beginnings that the Holiday represents. Here in the UK, many primary schools hold Easter bonnet making competitions which culminate in an Easter procession in the playground. Inspired by the stirrings of Spring all around, everyone has a go at making their own vibrant headwear.

In New York City, thousands of people will put on hats to take part in the annual Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival on April 20th, The Hat Ladies of Charleston, South Carolina will hold their Easter Promenade on April 19th and all over the place girls and ladies will put on their hats for church on Easter Sunday.
