Luarca, Candas, Oviedo

We wake up in Luarca

The men in the mural behind me were the Founders of the town and sat at that very table when they established it

This wall of tiled murals tells the history of the town

Even the streets are paved with beautiful tiles

These are vaults in the cemetery...

...next to the more traditional grave sites

Our new friends are good sports;  Joyce borrows a hat as we travel on the way to Candas

A famous Portuguese architect designed this performing arts center, with the hope it would generate as much interest as the Guggenheim Museum did for Bilbao.  It hasn't...

Parts of the Arts complex

Professional photos; One of the ceiling inside the Auditorium

Another of the entire complex

A professional aerial photo of Candas

Photos from our camera as we explore the rest of the town

We use our free time to enjoy views of the Mediterranean

Ever higher!

On the way back to the ship, we stop for coffee where an accordionist is playing Waltzes.  We can't help but join in.

Our lessons came in handy; John shares his talent with another customer

One of our fellow travelers teaches us the proper way to filet a fish

Despite the language barrior, we are beginning to meet and "communicate" with others in our group

A glass of wine always helps break down barriers
